Rachael Lillis, actress who voiced Misty and Jessie in 'Pokemon,' dies at the age of 46
The voice actress, known for lending her voice to several characters of the famous anime in its American version, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2024.
Voice actress Rachael Lillis, known for lending her voice to Misty and Jessie in the U.S. version of the popular anime based on the video games "Pokemon," died this Saturday at 46.
It was her colleague Veronica Taylor, in charge of voicing Ash Ketchum in the anime, who shared the sad news. She did so through a post on X in which her co-worker assured that Lillis, who had been diagnosed with breast cancer in May this year, had finally passed away due to this disease:
“It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of Rachael Lillis on Saturday night, August 10, 2024. Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a shining light that shone through her voice, whether speaking or singing,” she said.
Infobae recalls that Rachael began playing Misty and Team Rocket antagonist Jessie in "Pokemon" in 1998. She maintained both roles until 2006, when Misty ceased to be a regular character in the Japanese series.
However, this was not the end of Lillis who, thanks to her brilliant work, continued to lend her voice to Jessie and pokemon Jigglypuff (where, in addition, she also sang). Along with this, she also returned to lend her voice to trainer Maylene, one of the main characters in the Diamond and Pearl saga.
