Detroit Police Department orders anyone who "lives with a minor" to keep their weapons "safely" stored
The order contradicts a Supreme Court ruling that states that people cannot be forced to keep their firearms unloaded or locked.

The Detroit Police Department posted on its official X (formerly Twitter account) an announcement stating that as of February 1, 2024, gun owners who "live with a minor" will be required to store firearms "safely." They are requiring that guns be "unloaded and locked with a trigger locking mechanism or stored in a locked storage container."

However, this order from the Detroit Police contradicts the Supreme Court's 2008 ruling that people cannot be forced to keep their firearms unloaded or locked.
