Video: a group of Jewish students, locked in a library while pro-Hamas protesters rebuke them
The security staff of the Cooper Union of New York decided to keep the young people in the room because they could not guarantee their safety in the face of the protests.
Several Jewish students were locked in a library to ensure their safety while a group of pro-Hamas demonstrators roamed the campus and even surrounded the room where the Jews were sheltering while banging on the windows and shouting "free Palestine." Faced with this harassment, the young people had to be evacuated through tunnels to avoid any potential harm.
They claim that the police did not want to intervene
The warning was given by the former Director of Communications at the Israeli Consulate in New York, Jake Novak. In a post on Twitter, Novak denounced the situation and noted that, although she was alerted, the police did not want to get involved.
After several hours of anguish, the Jewish students were able to leave the building safely through tunnels to avoid any incidents with the protesters.
Cooper Union denies incidents
However, as reported by Fox News, Cooper Union sources deny the incidents: "The Library was closed for approximately 20 minutes while student protesters moved through our building," the official said. "Some students who were previously in the library remained during this time. All students have already dispersed."
