Las Vegas police arrest man linked to Tupac Shakur's 1996 murder
The man was identified as Duane Keffe D. Davis, according to two law enforcement officials.
AP news reported this Friday that a man was arrested for the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996. Two members of the Las Vegas Police confirmed the information to the media outlet.
"Duane 'Keffe D' Davis was taken into custody early Friday morning, on suspicion of murder, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday," the news agency explained.
Additionally, AP indicated that "Davis has long been known to investigators and has himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir that he was in the Cadillac from which the gunfire erupted during the September 1996 drive-by shooting."
On September 7, 1996, while stopped at a traffic light, a late-model white four-door Cadillac sedan pulled up to the right side of the vehicle where Shakur was and a man quickly shot Shakur, who was shot four times, once in the arm, once in the thigh, and twice in the chest. One of the bullets hit his right lung.
The rapper was taken to the emergency room and finally on the afternoon of September 13, 1996, Shakur died of internal bleeding in the intensive care unit.
