Hunter Biden appeared Wednesday before the media outside the Capitol to attack the Republican Party for trying to damage his image and that of his father, Joe Biden. The GOP has repeatedly asked him to appear before the House Oversight Committee to answer questions regarding his fraudulent business dealings. However, instead of doing so as requested, he refused and preferred to testify in person and with the media present.

Among his assertions, Hunter Biden maintained that his father was "not financially involved" with his Chinese-affiliated business or with the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, claiming that "there is no evidence to support the allegations." This has also been the repeated message from the White House, despite the evidence presented by Republicans in Congress.

Let me state as clearly as I can: My father was not financially involved in my business — Not as a practicing lawyer. Not as a board member of Burisma, not in my partnership with a Chinese private businessman, not my investment at all nor abroad, and certainly not as an artist.

Hunter defiant

The president's son, with a defiant attitude, took the opportunity to lash out at the Republican Party and the MAGA movement for wanting to ridicule his fight against addiction, as well as invade his privacy and attack his family, including his father:

MAGA Republicans ... ridiculed my struggle with addiction. They belittled my recovery and they have tried to dehumanize me, all to embarrass and damage my father who has devoted his entire life to service. For six years, I have been a target of the unrelenting Trump-attack machine shouting, 'Where's Hunter?' Well, here's my answer. I am here. I am here to testify at a public hearing, today, to answer any of the committees’ legitimate questions.

He was also critical of House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan. "They have lied over and over about every aspect of my personal and professional life," he said, adding, "They have taken the light of my dad's love for me and presented it as darkness." He concluded: "Republicans do not want an open process where Americans can see their tactics, expose their baseless inquiry, or hear what I have to say."

'We will move forward with the process'

Hunter Biden was scheduled to testify inside Congress at 9:30 a.m. His rebuff drew immediate reaction from Republican leaders of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees. Comer assured that the subpoena "is a normal process in an investigation," adding that it "has been a serious investigation since day one— an investigation about public corruption at the highest level."

Jordan promised that they will "move forward with the process" for Hunter Biden's contempt.
