House Republicans accuse Fauci of secretly visiting CIA headquarters to "influence" the investigation into the origin of COVID-19

The accusation comes a week and a half after a whistleblower accused the agency of paying 6 analysts to change their conclusions about the origins of the coronavirus.

House Republicans accuse Fauci of secretly visiting CIA headquarters to "influence" the investigation into the origin of COVID-19

Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), quietly visited CIA headquarters to supposedly “influence” research into the real origins of COVID-19, announced House Republicans.

The Chairman of the House Special Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, Congressman Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), wrote an open letter addressed to Christi Grimm, Inspector General of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), requesting all documentation related to Fauci's unofficial meeting at the security agency's headquarters.

Specifically, the committee wants documents showing communications between HHS, NIAID and the US Marshals Service, which protected and escorted Fauci while he served as the president's chief medical advisor.

"According to information gathered by the Select Subcommittee, Dr. Anthony Fauci, then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, played a role in the Central Intelligence Agency’s review of the origins of COVID-19," wrote Republican Wenstrup. "The information provided suggests that Dr. Fauci was escorted into Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Headquarters—without a record of entry—and participated in the analysis to ‘influence’ the Agency’s review. Our goal is to ensure the scientific investigative process regarding the origins of COVID-19 was fair, impartial, and free of alternative influence."

"The American people deserve the truth—to know the origins of the virus and whether there was a concerted effort by public health authorities to suppress the lab leak theory for political or national security purposes," the representative added.

Despite the strong accusations, Wenstrup did not give any date when the alleged secret visit took place.

Wenstrup's complaint comes a week and a half after it was revealed to the public that a whistleblower accused the CIA, before Congress, of paying 6 analysts to change their conclusions about the origins of the coronavirus.

The informant reported earlier this month that the agency paid officials to change their initial theory — that COVID-19 came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology — to begin supporting the still unproven theory of natural transmission.

The real origin of COVID-19 remains a mystery, although the China lab leak theory has gained traction within the scientific community as new evidence emerges about controversial gain of function research and biosafety problems at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
