More than 300.000: New record of arrival of undocumented migrants under the Biden Administration
The new CBP report reveals that in August the number of border encounters nationwide reached a new high.
The Biden Administration and its border security managed to break a new record. During the month of August, the highest number of border encounters at the national level was recorded.
According to a report published this Friday by the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP), 304,162 people were captured or considered inadmissible by border agents during the month of August. This represents 24% more than the month of July, in addition to a new record for the Biden Administration.
The report explains that along the southwest border, U.S. officials have found a total of 232,972 people entering the country without authorization during the month of August, which implies an increase of 27% compared to the arrests made by Border Patrol in July.
“CBP remains vigilant in the face of ruthless smugglers and transnational criminal organizations who exploit vulnerable migrants, the same criminal organizations trafficking in lethal drugs that harm our communities,” said Troy Miller, acting commissioner of the agency.
Customs and Border Protection explained that they are processing non-citizens “under Title 8 immigration authorities, and placing noncitizens who cross the border unlawfully into Expedited Removalor or Section 240 Removal Proceedings.”
“CBP’s message for anyone who is thinking of entering the United States illegally along the Southwest border is simple: don’t do it. When noncitizens cross the border unlawfully, they put their lives in peril. The U.S. Border Patrol has undertaken significant efforts in recent years to expand capacity to aid and rescue individuals in distress,” he insisted.
Meanwhile, the immigration crisis has become so critical that Mayor Rolando Salinas Jr. issued and signed an emergency declaration in response to “the severe undocumented immigrant surge into the City of Eagle Pass, Texas” and more and more cities are overwhelmed with migrants.
“ We need a better system. Our immigration system has failed. It is broken. This is not the way to run an immigration system,” Jim Desmond, supervisor of San Diego County, recently stated after the arrival of more than 3,500 migrants to the county.
