Just days after being hospitalized for feeling "dizzy," Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman was admitted back to the hospital for treatment for "clinical depression."

Fetterman's Chief of Staff Adam Jentleson reported Thursday on social media that doctors recommended "hospital care" for the senator:

Senator John Fetterman checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression. While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks… On Monday, John was evaluated by Dr. Brian P. Monahan … Monahan recommended inpatient care at Walter Reed. John agreed, and he is receiving treatment on a voluntary basis.

Last week, the Democrat was already admitted to a medical center due to "dizziness" he suffered during a recess at a Senate retreat. At the time, his communications director noted that "initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke," but that further tests would be performed.

Continuing doubts about Fetterman's health

Fetterman suffered a stroke while campaigning for Pennsylvania's Senate seat in the 2022 midterms. At some events and debates during the race, he was seen disoriented, and the significant after-effects of the stroke were evident.

The senator's health conditions were one of the main arguments of those who opposed his candidacy. His critics and some in the media were constantly calling for the release of his medical records, as some felt that Fetterman was unfit to hold the position.
