John Fetterman was hospitalized in Washington on Wednesday night. The Democratic senator suffered a dizzy spell during a Senate retreat and was transported to a hospital facility, where it was decided to admit him as a precaution while tests were performed. After initial tests, doctors indicated that the incident was not related to the stroke he suffered last year.

Sen. John Fetterman is hospitalized after suffering a dizzy spell on the Senate floor Wednesday. Doctors indicate it is unrelated to the stroke he suffered last year.

Fetterman's Communications Director Joe Calvello told the media that, after feeling unwell, the senator "left and called his staff, who picked him up and drove him to The George Washington University Hospital."

Fetterman "in good spirits and talking to his family"

Calvello added that "initial tests did not show evidence of a new stroke, but doctors are running more tests and John is remaining overnight for observation". Fetterman "is in good spirits and talking to his staff and family." He also asked that the family's privacy be respected and announced that "we will provide more information when we have it."

Fetterman suffered a stroke while campaigning for the Pennsylvania Senate seat against Republican Mehmet Oz in the midterms. In the race's subsequent events and debates, it could be seen that the then lieutenant governor of Pennsylvania was suffering from the stroke's residual effects. In fact, one of the main arguments of those who opposed his candidacy was whether his health would allow him to serve in the Senate.
