Former top federal official works for law firm defending Hunter Biden

One of the GOP's priorities after winning the House majority is to investigate Joe Biden and his son Hunter's "shady" business dealings with China. Now, a former senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official has joined the law firm defending the president's firstborn.
Nicholas McQuaid, who has an extensive background in management positions, returned earlier this month to the law firm Latham & Watkins, where he previously worked from 2017 to 2021. His prior federal appointments include serving as acting chief of the DOJ's Criminal Division under Joe Biden.
Since early 2021, the Republican Party pushed to recuse Nicholas McQuaid and convey transparency around the case of the president's son. Senators Chuck Grassley and Ron Johnson said in May:
"He will not represent Mr. (Hunter) Biden."
