GOP debuts House majority by announcing an investigation into the Biden family
The inquiries into the president's family will include a number of possible offenses such as conspiracy to defraud the United States and money laundering.
House Republican leaders laid out their intentions on Thursday after projections confirmed the GOP’s new House majority. Their priorities include investigating the president and his son Hunter Biden over what they describe as "shady" family business dealings.
Republicans James Comer (Kentucky) and Jim Jordan (Ohio), who will be the next chairmen of the House Oversight and Judiciary committees, respectively, gave a glimpse into their intentions for next January, when the GOP will take control of the House.
They noted that Congress will explore "all avenues" to investigate the Biden's, including a number of possible crimes such as conspiracy to defraud the United States and money laundering, among others.
From border invasion to Afghanistan withdrawal, investigations GOP wants to boost
The Republican Party wants to investigate several of the Administration's issues that the previous Democratic majority in the House had blocked. This includes looking into the origins of the Covid pandemic, vaccination mandates, the controversial withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, accusations of politicizing the Justice Department and the inaction regarding the flood of illegal immigrants.
With a majority that is not large enough and with the Senate in the hands of the Democratic Party, these investigations will be the Democratic Party’s key to exercising its power in the House of Representatives. The first thing will be looking into is the Biden family businesses.
