Latin music and K-pop are the most popular genres in the U.S.
In 2023, the music industry broke a record by reaching 1 trillion plays faster than ever. This milestone was achieved thanks to the "accelerated rise of non-Anglo-Saxon music."
Non-English-speaking foreign music continues to break records in the country. A Luminate report revealed that 40% of Americans listen to songs in a language other than English. In addition, 69% enjoy music performed by international artists.
The study indicated that the nation's citizens are increasingly listening to songs in Spanish, Japanese, Korean, German and Arabic. However, the most popular genres in the nation are Latin music and K-pop. Jaime Marconette, senior director of music insights and relationships at Luminate, commented:
Consumption of Spanish-language music increases, while English-language music decreases
Since 2021, the consumption of music and songs in Spanish increased 3.6% in Luminate's list of the 10,000 most played songs. On the other hand, English-language music experienced a 4.2% decline over the same period:

Revenues break records
Latin music revenues in the U.S. reached an all-time high of more than $1 billion in 2022. The genre also experienced a 24% growth in the market outpacing the rest of the industry, according to a report by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
