'A Story About Tragedy,' Christopher Rufo warns parents of the business behind gender transitions for children

The famed conservative writer gave a lecture in Washington, D.C., detailing the horrors behind gender reassignment procedures.

Christopher F. Rufo, the famous writer and conservative activist, who has inspired more than a dozen pieces of legislation in different states with his research, gave a lecture, at the Washington, D.C., campus of Hillsdale College, on the "business of transgenderism."

His talk warned the public about the danger of an ideology that is increasingly taking over institutions. Rufo began his speech by stating that one of the main goals of the new left is to "transsexualize Marxism."

The goal of transgender ideology has been uniting with other factors of leftist thought, such as the racial component, and has advanced to the point of directly calling for the abolition of capitalism. Not only does the left want to abolish basic nature by erasing the categories of woman and man, but they also want to completely abolish the economic and political system, Rufo explained.

The author of the bestselling book "America's Cultural Revolution" stressed that the transgender agenda is not just a matter of a few activists out of their minds, but that it is something gaining significant traction in the country's most important institutions. However, for Rufo, the most complicated issue is that the transgender agenda is targeting children.

"I can defend myself, but in many cases they are going after kids who can not, kids that are vulnerable, kids that may not have two parents in the home, kids that may have other issues that they are struggling with, they are the explicit targets of a campaign to recruit them into an ideology."

Regarding how transgender ideology is targeting children, Rufo pointed particularly to what is happening in Chicago, where he claims that teachers, counselors and public school administrators were asked to "maintain the privacy of students" regarding gender transition issues. However, the writer states that it is more appropriate to say that teachers were empowered "to facilitate child sexual transitions and keep it secret from parents."

Rufo notes that, in Chicago, there are medical providers who offer everything available "gender transitions." He stressed that it is common to hear transgender activists claim that hormone blockers have no long-term effects and that they are completely reversible. However, in practice, these treatments are not irreversible, and the data on the consequences children's use of these substances is frightening.

Ninety-five percent of children who use hormone blockers will end up on cross-sex hormone treatments, and 50% of women who take hormones will have "gender-affirming surgeries," Rufo said, also warning about the almost secret way in which hospitals are performing these procedures.

By going into the details of these procedures, it is easy to understand why they are kept in the shadows. In Texas, for example, surgeries are performed in which the sexual organ of the other sex is added, causing the person to have two sex organs. A procedure called "nullification surgery" is also performed, in which all external genitalia are removed to create a continuous transition from the abdomen to the groin.

In this particular surgery, Rufo stopped to do a deeper analysis. The writer drew attention to the fact that these procedures are not like cases of transition from one sex to another, but are an attempt to "erase the distinction between man and woman, and act outside those categories, act outside of human nature itself." He also assured that these types of surgeries are not a medical procedure because they have no medical objective; Rufo calls them an "ideological procedure."

When Rufo was asked about what both the government and parents should do about the momentum these procedures are gaining in the medical field, he said it is essential not to underestimate how perverse some of them are: "Dual genitals, nullification surgeries, all this should be illegal for everyone, but this is currently happening in Texas."

He also assured that he constantly talks with parents of all political ideologies, and that this is the primary concern for parents. The writer stated that, especially in blue states, parents are trying to navigate these potentially dangerous situations, and that they have a duty to confront them in a peaceful and democratic way. "If adults are targeting your kids for a child sexual transition, you have to do whatever it takes to not only stop it for your kids but for others."
