Walmart expands drone delivery service to 1.8 million more Texas homes

With this technology, customers can receive their orders in 30 minutes or less. This marks "the first time a U.S. retailer has offered drone delivery to this many households in a single market."

Walmart expanded its drone delivery service to 1.8 million more homes across northern Texas. Deliveries made with this technology will now reach 75% of homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area:

Walmart is reaching new heights, offering our drone delivery for up to 75% of the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) population. We’re building on our momentum with the largest drone delivery footprint of any U.S. retailer.

According to the multinational retailer, drones allow deliveries to reach homes in half an hour or less. They claim that some deliveries can be made in just ten minutes:

This is an addition to other speedy delivery methods like Express Delivery in three hours or less, Late-Night Delivery until 10 p.m. and InHome – with an option for delivery directly to a customer’s refrigerator – ensuring customers have what they want, when and how they want it.

Walmart's expansion "the first time a U.S. retailer has offered drone delivery to this many households in a single market," covering stores in more than 30 cities and counties in the DFW area.

Prathibha Rajashekhar, senior vice president of innovation and automation at Walmart, stated:

This expansion will bring the ultimate convenience of drone delivery to communities across the DFW area. Customers will have access to a broad assortment of items from Walmart available for delivery to their home in just minutes. … Drone delivery is not just a concept of the future, it’s happening now and will soon be a reality for millions of additional Texans.
