Trump on the hostage agreement between Israel and Hamas: They have "not returned one American hostage, no respect for our country"

The former president warned that the terrorist group could try to seek a better deal to free United States citizens: "This is not going to end well."

This Saturday, former President Donald Trump criticized Hamas's failure to release American hostages and suggested that this is due to the Biden Administration's leadership deficiency.

The Republican candidate explained through a post on Truth Social that several foreigners have already benefited from the agreement between the terrorist group and Israel by being released along with dozens of Israelis. However, none of them have been American.

According to the former president, Hamas's decision not to release any American citizen is because there is no longer "respect for our country or our leadership ."

"This is a very sad and dark period of America!" he said, adding that Hamas will seek better treatment for the hostages. "This is not going to end well," he added.

The hostages released

Trump's comments come after Hamas released just over 20 hostages on Friday and another dozen on Saturday as part of a deal in which a total of 50 captives are expected to be freed by Hamas during a four-day truce. This was in exchange for more than 100 Palestinian prisoners.

Although the majority of the hostages released by Hamas have been Israelis, the release of several Thais, a Filipino, a Polish citizen, and other foreigners has also been reported.

Biden does not know when any American will be freed

President Joe Biden was asked last Friday about the release of Americans held by Hamas, but the president said he did not know when it would happen.

"We don't know when that will occur, but we're going to be — expect it to occur. And we don't know what the list of all the hostages is and when they'll be released, but we know the numbers that are going to be released. So, it is my hope and expectation it will be soon," he said.

Biden also did not know how to respond to the state of health of the Americans in captivity.
