Shakira vs. Kim Kardashian: Who will get the Fisher Island house?

Both stars have their eyes on the same home on the exclusive island off the coast of Miami.

Shakira is moving to Miami. A termite infestation in her North Bay Road Drive mansion and pressure from journalists have made the famous Colombian singer decide to move. According to several media outlets, the singer of Hips Don't Lie will not be moving far away. She has her eyes set on Fisher Island, the exclusive island with the highest per capita income in the United States. Only one person stands between Shakira and her new mansion: Kim Kardashian.

A Spanish journalist revealed the exclusive report. According to the information, the Fisher Island neighborhood board will decide which of the two celebrities will be able to buy the available mansion on the island. Fisher Island, about 2.5 miles off the coast of Miami, is a perfect place to keep reporters at bay. The island can only be accessed by ferry, boat or helicopter. It is home to big names such as Oprah Winfrey, bringing the median annual income of the neighborhood's residents to $2.5 million, according to Bloomberg. To be eligible to purchase the home, Shakira and Kim Kardashian must pay an upfront fee of $250,000.

Nearly 1,000 people of 50 different nationalities live on the 216-acre island. The neighborhood has its own branch of the Miami-Dade Fire Department, a bank, a post office, two golf courses, tennis courts, a doctor and even an elementary school in addition to other services. To earn a place in this luxurious neighborhood, the Kardashian family's reality show could work in Shakira's favor. If Kim Kardashian films on the island, it could interrupt the peace and quiet of the rest of the residents.

Florida is home to some of the highest-income residential housing in the country. Bloomberg's ranking of the 20 most expensive zip codes in the country also includes Palm Beach, located just north of Fisher Island. Naples, Florida is 15th. Atherton and Palo Alto are also on the list, making California one of the most frequent states on this list of exclusive neighborhoods.
