House Speaker Kevin McCarthy hinted in an interview with Fox that Congress could pursue opening an impeachment inquiry against Biden as soon as Congress reconvenes from the summer recess in September.
Republican McCarthy said on television that the Biden administration's refusal to deliver a series of documents to Congress could be the final trigger for an impeachment. At the center of this political movement is the investigation led by Rep. Comer and the Judiciary Commission and the Oversight Commission.
Investigation into the Biden family
"The thing that holds up whether we do impeachment inquiry, provide us the documents we’re asking... If they provide us the documents, there wouldn’t be a need for impeachment inquiry," McCarthy said in the interview. "But if they withhold the documents and fight like they have now to not provide to the American public what they deserve to know, we will move forward with impeachment inquiry when we come back into session."
McCarthy did not specify which documents he was referring to. However, he praised the House's efforts to shed light on the allegations against the Biden family. The investigation into the Biden family's business dealings around the world gives Republicans the ammunition they need in Congress. According to what the Oversight Committee revealed, members of the Biden family made at least $10 million off of several limited liability companies. The money came mostly from China and Bulgaria. The indictment alleges that Hunter Biden took advantage of his position to advise companies, which in the case of the Bulgarian Burisma, were found guilty of being part of a network of corruption and bribery.
"The only reason you know of all this information is because we took the majority and we're holding the administration accountable. It is appalling what we have learned. It is different from what President Joe Biden has told us," McCarthy said.
