Fourteen Democratic lawmakers are backing a proposed resolution, introduced by House Republicans, to condemn the Biden Administration's border policies amidst escalating encounters and crossings with illegal immigrants, which continue to challenge the country.
Aside from the support of the fourteen Democratic turncoats, the resolution proposal presented by GOP representative Nathaniel Moran (Texas), had the vote in favor of the rest of the Republican caucus.
The Republican initiative, which urges the president to end "open border policies" that have led to a "crisis of national security and public safety," has found the support of the following Democratic representatives: Colin Allred (Texas), Yadira Caraveo (Colorado), Angie Craig (Minnesota), Henry Cuellar (Texas), Donald Davis (North Carolina), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente González (Texas), Greg Landsman (Ohio), Susie Lee (Nevada), Jared Moskowitz (Florida), Wiley Nickel (North Carolina), Mary Peltola (Alaska), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Washington), and Eric Sorensen (Illinois).
"Illegal immigration threatens our national security"
After the approval of the initiative, several of the Democratic turncoats issued statements to argue their decision to align themselves with their rivals and not follow their party line. One of them, Jared Golden, issued a statement in which he assured that "illegal immigration threatens our national security":
Most of us understand that nations need borders, those borders should be secured, and we should enforce the immigration laws on the books. Most of us also understand that those seeking entry to our country deserve an orderly and predictable immigration process. Right now we have problems on both fronts. Illegal immigration threatens our national security and undermines American jobs. It’s time for Congress and the Biden administration to come together and pass legislation to meaningfully address issues at the border. It should be a top priority in Washington, just like it is in most of America.
For his part, Donald Davis wrote a post on social networks in which he explained that the only solution to alleviate the immigration crisis is through bipartisan work:

"Protect this Republic"
In his pre-vote statement, sponsor Nathaniel Moran asked Democrats to vote yes and ask President Joe Biden to "end his open borders policies and protect this Republic. Do it now before it's too late."

The President of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, also spoke about the immigration situation, after going to the White House to meet with Joe Biden and several legislative leaders. The speaker continued with the arguments of his party and the Democratic congressmen who voted in favor:
