When news of the raid broke, Mayor Adams said in a video on X (formerly Twitter) that he was on a plane to Washington, D.C., to discuss the immigration crisis with his colleagues .

“On my way to DC to join my fellow mayors to talk with our federal partners about the asylum seeker crisis,” Adams said.

“We are headed to D.C. to meet with our Congressional delegation and the White House to address this real issue of the asylum and migrant issue in our city and we will keep you updated as the day goes,” said the Democratic mayor.

However, the trip was ultimately canceled, according to a spokesman for the mayor, as reported by Telemundo.
