Spain: Farmers block roads for the second consecutive day in protest of EU's green policies

Protests by farmers in Europe are intensifying. On the second day of demonstrations, tractors arrived in Barcelona while other roads in Spain were blocked with vehicles and other agricultural equipment. They gathered mainly in the regions of Castilla-La Mancha, Andalusia, Navarra and Catalonia, according to the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).
Farmers in Spain and several neighboring countries are taking a stand against European Union agricultural measures aimed to combat climate change. Protest leaders have expressed that regulations prevent them from remaining competitive with other agricultural markets.
According to European media outlet AFP, this Wednesday's protests "were not called by the three main rural unions in Spain, Asaja, Coag and UPA, though these do have other demonstrations planned for the coming days."
