The Argentine justice system decided to reopen its investigation into Cristina Fernández de Kirchner for the well-known Route of the K-Money. The case against the current vice president had been dismissed on June 5, a decision that was revoked this Friday by the Federal Chamber.

"Today, the Federal Chamber of Buenos Aires reopened the investigation against Vice President Cristina Kirchner in the case known as 'The Route of the K-Money,' which was dismissed on June 5," reported the Argentine newspaper La Nación.

Federal Judge Sebastián Casanello had dismissed the former president of Argentina because there were no complainants who maintained that she should be investigated in this case, in which businessman Lázaro Báez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for money laundering.

However, a non-governmental organization identified as Asociación Civil Bases Republicanas asked to be accepted as a plaintiff and requested that the case be reopened. By two votes to one, the Federal Chamber decided to continue with the investigation against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

"We revoke the merit order dated June 5, which ordered the dismissal of Cristina Elisabeth Fernández de Kirchner, with the judge a quo reissuing the case in accordance with the parameters and with the purposes established in this resolution," the decision explained.
