Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) asked Hispanics not to support DeSantis during his run for the presidential election. During his his "mañanera" (morning briefing), the president of Mexico sent the following message to the governor of Florida, wishing the following:
Immigration policy, the main issue between AMLO and DeSantis
The main reason for asking Latino citizens not to support DeSantis during the race to become president of the United States in 2024 is his immigration policy. During the Florida governor's official announcement of his candidacy on Twitter, he said that one of his first actions as president would be to build a barrier between Mexico and the United States: "Biden opened the southern border and allowed massive amounts of drugs to enter the country. We will close the border, build a border wall and hold the drug cartels accountable."
AMLO does not agree with these sentiments, as he assures that drugs, especially fentanyl, are entering through Ron DeSantis' own state: Florida.
