Edward James was sentenced to death in Florida
The state of Florida has executed a 63-year-old convict for the rape and murder of 8-year-old Toni Neuner and her 58-year-old grandmother. The events occurred in 1993 in Casselberry.
According to a report by News4Ajax, on the night of the crimes Edward James was intoxicated with drugs and alcohol.
Florida state prison officials reported that James was pronounced dead at 8:15 p.m. ET after receiving a lethal injection comprised of three different drugs.
James got the death penalty after pleading guilty, following an 11-to-1 recommendation by the jury.
According to the aforementioned report state media, Neuner's brother said that after the execution the family was able to find some peace.
Gov. DeSantis signed the execution order for James.
