At least one person died and five others were injured - one of them is in critical condition - in a shooting that occurred this Monday at a Waffle House located in Indianapolis (Indiana).

As reported by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), police were called to the scene after receiving a call about an disturbance involving two people. A woman, whose identity was not revealed, was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound. She died there shortly after arriving. Another woman and four men were also shot, both inside and outside the restaurant.

"Preliminarily, detectives believe this incident started with a disturbance between two groups that escalated to gunfire. It is not clear at this point if any of the people injured were also individuals who fired shots. That will be part of what detectives will attempt to determine," police said in statements reported by the New York Post.

The IMPD is inspecting security cameras to figure out the reasons for the disturbance. The department will continue to investigate the incident by interviewing witnesses. So far no arrests have been made.
