Jaime Flórez, the Republican Party's director of Hispanic communications, said in an interview with Voz News that he does not trust polls showing low approval ratings for President Donald Trump among Hispanics, citing the precedent set by the 2024 election. Flórez also strongly criticized media coverage during the second Trump administration and asserted that there is a lack of interest in reporting on some of the administration's achievements. "The polls are not reliable," he argued, before noting that weeks before the 2024 election, some polls gave Kamala Harris "a 10% lead among Hispanic voters", while the final result actually favored Trump in Texas by 15 points.

Flórez argued that the 2024 results demonstrate the difficulties of using such polls to gauge the behavior of the Hispanic electorate and defended Trump's immigration policies. "The truth is that it's a fact that Hispanics have no reason to be dissatisfied with President Trump when it comes to fulfilling the promises he has made," Flórez told Voz News anchor and executive director Karina Yapor. According to the Republican leader, "most Hispanics want strong immigration policies in the United States, a secure border, and orderly, responsible legal immigration," and he argued that these are precisely the policies Trump is promoting.

When addressing the economic concerns of Hispanics, Flórez rejected the notion that the problem stems from the administration's inability to communicate its achievements and pointed the finger directly at the media. "AndI don't think we've seen much interest on the part of the media in reporting that information," he said. In that regard, he questioned the coverage of the so-called Trump savings accounts and policies related to drug prices: "Not only are they failing to give the president the credit he deserves for something that is very important, but by ignoring that news, they are also denying hundreds of thousands of Americans the opportunity to benefit their children through these Trump accounts."

The Republican leader also defended the White House's election strategy of focusing initial efforts on Republican strongholds. "First, we have to secure the votes of our own," explained Flórez, who believed that convincing new voters might be more difficult due to what he described as an "avalanche of misinformation" about Trump. "More than 93 percent of the news reported about him is negative," he stated, before arguing that ensuring Republican voter turnout will be crucial in the midterm elections.

On the issue of immigration, Flórez defended the deportations of people who are in the United States illegally and stated that the Trump administration seeks to address the problem structurally. "We have to solve the problem, and we have to solve it at its root—and that is what the Trump administration has been doing," he concluded.
