Trump orders an end to Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden
The move was announced as effective immediately and corresponds to questions about the number of agents assigned to their security.

Hunter Biden
On Monday, President Donald Trump announced the immediate revocation of Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden, ending their extended federal security early.
The reasons behind the decision
Trump justified the move through a post on Truth Social, where he questioned the cost and number of agents assigned to President Joe Biden's children.
"Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!" he said.
In the same message, he confirmed that the revocation of protection would be "effective immediately" for both Hunter and Ashley Biden, who Trump said had a team of 13 Secret Service agents.
Trump made the decision after a reporter asked him about it during an event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
"If there are 18 with Hunter Biden, that will be something I’ll look at this afternoon," he responded. Hours later, he confirmed the revocation of extended security for President Biden's children.
So far, the White House has not issued an official statement on the move.
Implications and next steps
With the removal of Secret Service protection, Hunter and Ashley Biden will have to assume responsibility for their own security.
Under federal regulations, former presidents and their spouses receive Secret Service protection for life, while security for adult children generally ends when their parents leave the White House. However, both Trump and Joe Biden had decided to extend this protection for an additional six months after their respective terms ended.
This decision by Trump comes weeks after he announced that he would revoke Biden's security clearances and suspend his daily intelligence briefings. The move came in response to Biden's previous decision to bar Trump from continuing to receive these briefings after leaving office, citing his role in challenging the 2020 election results.
