Jill Biden will lead the delegation for Claudia Sheinbaum's inauguration in Mexico
The president-elect's event will be held on October 1 in the Mexican capital.
The White House announced that First Lady Jill Biden will lead the delegation for the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum as the new president of Mexico. In addition, the government explained that in the coming days it will release the full list of those attending the event.
"Dr. Jill Biden, first lady of the United States, will head the delegation. The full list of delegation members will be announced at a later date," the White House wrote in a statement.
The inauguration of Mexico's first woman president will take place on October 1 in the Mexican capital. According to local media such as El Universal, the current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, declared October 1, 2024 a new holiday in order to commemorate the transition of executive power every six years.

Sheinbaum’s inauguration will take place in the Chamber of Deputies where she will receive the presidential sash from the current president and the president of the Board of Directors in San Lazaro, Ifigenia Martinez.
Afterwards, as reported by Infobae, she will host a lunch at the National Palace for international guests including heads of state, ambassadors and other political figures.
"Sheinbaum Pardo announced that so far only the presidents of Brazil and Colombia, Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva and Gustavo Petro, respectively, have been confirmed to attend; however, she recalled that invitations were sent to 'all the countries with which Mexico maintains diplomatic relations,'" the media outlet reported.
