China has announced sanctions against Nancy Pelosi over the House Speaker's visit to Taiwan. The communist regime, which does not specify what these measures consist of, have announced that they are aimed at the Administration's third highest authority and her family in response to what they consider an "atrocious provocation" by Pelosi.

The Chinese authorities have also announced that they will halt cooperation with the United States in several areas including high-level military dialogue and communication between the two countries' defense departments. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs points out that it also paralyzes negotiations on issues such as illegal immigration, drug trafficking, prevention of cross-border crime and climate change talks.

China insists that Pelosi's visit "seriously threatens peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait." Coupled with the threatening language used during the Speaker's visit, the regime went so far as to point out that "those who play with fire will die." In another statement issued Thursday, the communist regime maintained its tone, calling the visit "a blatant provocation," which it considers "another bankruptcy of U.S. policy, diplomacy and credibility."

Military maneuvers and retaliation against Taiwan

Meanwhile, Chinese military forces continue to maneuver with live fire near Taiwan's coast and encroach on both the island's airspace and watershed. The Taiwanese authorities have denounced the launching of missiles, and a "maritime and air" blockade that they describe as both a "provocation and security threat" by China.

An escalation of tension has been accentuated in the Taiwan Strait, a key trade route for the transport of goods between the main economies of Northeast Asia and the rest of the world.
