Musk hints that "important" files were hidden from Jack Dorsey
The Twitter CEO's claims came after Dorsey tweeted rebuking Musk's recent revelations about censorship.
Twitter owner Elon Musk hinted that his predecessor Jack Dorsey was not fully aware of some "important data" related to the acts of censorship carried out on the social network.
Musk noted that Dorsey was kept in the dark about some of the "most important data" and suggested that some of it would have been deleted.
The Twitter CEO's claim came after Dorsey tweeted rebuking Musk's recent revelations about censoring Hunter Biden's laptop story.
"If the goal is transparency to build trust, why not just release everything without filter and let people judge for themselves," he said. Include "all discussions around current and future actions? Make everything public now," Dorsey tweeted on Wednesday.
Musk chose to respond to Dorsey's criticism by noting,"most of the important data was hidden (from you as well) and some may have been deleted, but everything we find will be released," he replied.
Musk also announced this Tuesday, December 6, that he fired Twitter's deputy general counsel, Jim Baker, for his involvement in the social network's censorship as well as the Russiagate investigations.
It is unclear whether Baker was directly involved in the deletion or removal of the "important data" Musk referenced, better known as the "Twitter Files"; however he noted that the firing came "in light of concerns about Baker's possible role in the suppression of important information for public dialogue."
Jack Dorsey would have information withheld from him, but not all of it
In April 2021, a recording was leaked of Jack Dorsey proudly boasting that he had censored the accounts of GOP members as well as that of former President Donald Trump.
Project Veritas released a clip given to them by an alleged "whistleblower" who secretly recorded Dorsey's comments directed at the platform's staff.
"'This is going to be much bigger than a single account, and it's going to last much longer than this day'" Dorsey said about blocking Trump's Twitter account.
"We're focused on one account [@realDonaldTrump] right now, but it will be much bigger than just one account, and it will continue for much longer than just this day, this week and the next few weeks, and it will continue beyond the inauguration," Dorsey said. "And we have to expect that and we have to be prepared for that," he warned.
Dorsey's statements that were leaked on that occasion show that the former Twitter CEO was one of the main drivers of censorship and account blocking on that social network.
