Texas: this is the world's largest neighborhood built in 3D
Prices for each of these innovative properties located near Austin range from $475,000 to $599,000.
The first home in the world's largest 3D-designed neighborhood is now complete. This community of homes called Wolf Ranch, built with this innovative technological technique, is located in Georgetown, Texas, about 30 miles north of Austin.
The three companies in charge of the construction and design (ICON, Lennar and Bjarke Ingels Group) revealed images of this first house already completed, as can be seen in this link. The website shows a minimalist design, with very little furniture. Some say they are very futuristic constructions.
"3D printing is not science fiction. We have crossed that threshold from science fiction into reality. In the future, our bet is that this will be humanity’s best hope for a housing solution that matches our highest values and ideals," as said in 2021 in statements reported by CNN Jason Ballard, co-founder and CEO of ICON.
Those who want to buy one of these 3D-designed properties already know their prices. According to CNN, interested parties will have to pay between $475,000 and $599,000.
The foundations will be made of a concrete mix called Lavacrete, manufactured with a 3D robotic printer. In terms of dimensions, it is estimated that each house will be between 1,500 and 2,100 square feet. In addition, they will have three or four rooms. The first neighbors are expected to begin residing at Wolf Ranch in September.
