Sorry, Alberto; inflation is our fault
The left-wing populism you advocate has always been a remedy against poverty and has given a great boost to progress. We already see it in Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela...
The President of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, said during an interview with a Brazilian media outlet that "a large part" of the high inflation in the country (closing the year 2022 with 94.8%) "is self-constructed, it´s in people's heads." The president explained: "People read in the newspaper that fuel is going to go up and then they start to increase just in case" (sic).
Of course, Alberto! How did we not realize that it was all a problem of expectations and trust? It's all in our heads. Now, is the enormous expansion of the monetary base in the country also in our heads? Maybe, I don't know.
Could that be the problem of expectations and mistrust that you refer to when you talk about "self-constructed inflation?" How can we not trust you, Alberto? Since you come from the "put money in people's pockets" position! Where does this money come from, how much does the issue increase, how much wealth does it generate, etc.., are just questions of those insensitive neoliberals. The important thing is, as you say, to continue distributing social plans provided by your government to contain those who have the least, since, as you said, "for the right wing they do not exist and they intend to leave them forgotten."
In this sense, Alberto, despite the fact that you have been governing for more than three years, you did not forget to charge again against the former president, the culprit of all our ills, of course. You stated: "When Macri said that inflation can be solved in a minute, at what cost? Because at the cost of devaluing 40% as he did, the result is to send millions of people into marginalization and poverty." Exactly, because at that time, it was a real problem, but the strong growth of poverty and marginalization today must be in our naughty heads, right, Alberto? They are visions that we have, something like holograms that we see because of the damned media -less the official ones-, which do not allow us to see your wonderful achievements. I may ask for several brain scans and perhaps some surgery so I can see things for what they are.
Alberto, as president you have proven to be a great psychologist. I hope you can devote yourself fully to psychology once you have left power as one of the worst presidents in Argentine history. In my imagination, of course.
I can also understand your priorities, Alberto. You expressed that: "My only concern is that those who destroyed Argentina do not return to power in Argentina. I must guarantee that the right wing will never again take power in Argentina, whether I win or whoever wins." Of course, the leftist populism that you preach has always been a remedy against poverty and has given such an immense boost to progress! We can already see it in Cuba, Nicaragua, Venezuela; in short, it is indisputable. Those who dare to criticize or mistrust you, we know, have a self-constructed image, in terms of economics and human rights. They are delusional. You hit the nail on the head when you said that Peronism always comes back to "solve the problems of the people, which the right wing generates." The fact that Peronism has governed a good part of contemporary Argentine history seems to be an insignificant detail. In fact, of the last almost 20 years, 15 and counting have been governed by Kirchnerism, which of course has had nothing to do with the situation we are living today; the problem was the four years that Macri was in power, the rest was wonderful, regardless of what the detractors think, who, as you know, are poor victims of their psyche.
Alberto, you are right to accuse Argentines of preferring the dollar over the peso. You said that "the fascination with the dollar is very harmful." The devaluation of the national currency is a mental process, of course. It's not that it has less value, it's that we think it does and that it will continue to lose value. But well, now that the Brazilian president Lula Da Silva is visiting Argentina, analyzing the possibility of creating a single currency with Brazil. It seems that, in that way, we should overcome any psychological problems we may have and the matter will be resolved.
Alberto, as president you have proven to be a great psychologist. I hope you can devote yourself fully to psychology once you have left power as one of the worst presidents in Argentine history. In my imagination, of course.
