Big Tech crisis: TikTok takes advantage of Twitter and Meta layoffs to reinforce its workforce
The Chinese company will hire nearly 1,000 engineers for its Silicon Valley office.
Chinese company TikTok is increasing its workforce and is doing so by taking advantage of the crisis facing U.S. Big Tech. In the face of layoffs at Amazon, Twitter and Meta, the company has announced that, over the next three years, it will hire approximately 3,000 engineers worldwide, including in the United States.
In the U.S. and according to a person familiar with the matter who told CNN, the intention is to hire nearly 1,000 engineers at its Mountain View office in California. The goal, this media claims, would be to "ensure that U.S. users' data is monitored by a U.S.-based team."
In addition, according to The Information, they are looking for these workers among those people who recently lost their jobs in other technology companies:
TikTok is not afraid of technological crisis
TikTok is not worried about the technology crisis. Shou Zi Chew, its CEO, said during the Bloomberg New Economy Forum celebrated in Singapore that its work mechanisms was what allowed the company to grow its workforce: "The way we are organized is one where we don’t need to lay off half the workforce to achieve the efficiency levels that we want to achieve."
