“A nightmare”: Democrats panic after Biden's terrible press conference and prosecutor Hur's report

Advisors and members of the Democratic party agree that Thursday was a disastrous day for the president and his re-election campaign.

Thursday was a disastrous day for President Joe Biden. After special prosecutor Robert Hur’s report, where the president is accused of having voluntarily withheld classified material, Biden carried out a disastrous press conference at a nonconventional time to, in theory, reassure the public about his state of health and his notorious memory loss.

However, the president achieved the opposite effect, worrying even Democrats at different levels.

Biden, attempting to refute the report’s claims of his poor memory, made a serious error and confused Mexico with Egypt during his speech, a mistake that is causing widespread concern among allies and prominent Democratic advisers who argue that the press conference was a catastrophic mistake for the 81-year-old president.

While many Democrats defended Biden after the press conference, others did not hesitate to question the president’s mental and physical fitness. For example, veteran Democratic strategist and former Clinton White House adviser Paul Begala said in a CNN segment: “I slept like a baby last night. I woke up every two hours and wet the bed. This is terrible for Democrats. And anybody with a functioning brain knows that... This is going to be a really rough, ugly, unpleasant campaign.”

Others opted for anonymous criticism. In particular, NBC News cited a Democratic legislator from the House of Representatives who called the Democrats’ situation a “nightmare” after Biden’s disastrous press conference and Prosecutor Hur’s report.

“For Democrats, we’re in a grim situation,” said the lawmaker, who requested anonymity to speak freely.

Another Democratic operative told NBC News that Thursday’s events were “beyond devastating,” adding: “It confirms every doubt and concern that voters have. If the only reason they didn’t charge him is because he’s too old to be charged, then how can he be president of the United States?”.

Likewise, a Democratic strategist said in an interview with The Dispatch that Hur’s report, coupled with the confusing press conference, was “worse than an impeachment.”

Almost all of the anonymous Democrats quoted in the mainstream media agree that Biden’s press conference, intended to remedy Hur’s statements, was worse than the actual report.

In his report, the prosecutor stated, “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”

Because of this and other conclusions, Hur affirmed that Biden should not be charged despite purposely withholding classified documents.
