15-year-old arrested for selling drugs on social network

The young man ran an online drug marketplace on Telegram. According to police, he was selling alprazolam, psilocybin mushrooms and various forms of marijuana.

The Ventura County (California) Sheriff's Office reported the arrest of a 15 year-old male for operating an illegal drug marketplace on the social network Telegram. According to the official statement:

The Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Units (VC FOCUS) concluded an investigation into a 15-year-old juvenile suspect who operated an online marketplace for alprazolam (Xanax), psilocybin mushrooms and various forms of marijuana.

The statement claimed that officers are investigating the death of a woman last February that was likely the result of an overdose of drugs sold by the teenager.

The authorities reported that the suspect ran an online drug marketplace on Telegram. The high school student was selling alprazolam - the generic name for Xanax - psilocybin mushrooms and various forms of marijuana.

In March, the student agreed to sell Xanax to an undercover agent and a search warrant was executed at a residence in Oxnard, California. Authorities seized the quantity of drugs that were to be sold to the detective:

VCFOCUS investigators conducted an undercover operation and the minor agreed to sell alprazolam as an undercover detective. A search warrant was executed at the minor's residence in the city of Oxnard. During the search warrant, detectives seized the amount of Farmapram that was to be sold to the detective. Farmapram is a drug manufactured in Mexico that contains Alprazolam.

Due to the child's age, he was detained and handed over to his legal guardian. Police did not release his name. The case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office which will review it and decide whether to pursue possible criminal charges.
