Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduced a resolution in the House this Thursday to censure Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a member of the progressive group known as "The Squad." Taylor Greene accused Tlaib of engaging in "antisemitic" activity and supporting the actions of Hamas.
Taylor Greene's resolution is one of the first proposals since Mike Johnson was voted in as the new speaker of the House. A censure resolution involves a vote, which if passed, results in a public reprimand and formal condemnation of a member of Congress's behavior.

The resolution presented by Marjorie Taylor Greene will be voted on in two legislative days. She accuses Tlaib of "leading a pro-Hamas insurrection into the Capitol complex, repeatedly displaying her antisemitic beliefs, and showing her hatred for Israel," as the Georgia Republican representative declared when introducing her resolution. "She must be held accountable and censured."
The events Taylor Greene referred to occurred last week, when a group of protesters entered a part of the Capitol to demonstrate support for Palestine and condemn of Israel's air strikes against the Gaza Strip.
During the demonstration, Rep. Tlaib (D-Mich.) spoke to address the protesters and support their actions. At the time, Tlaib condemned Israel for bombing the Al-Ahli hospital in Gaza, a disaster which the Israeli military and independent intelligence analysts say resulted from a rocket launched from Gaza rather than by Israel.
