The socialist president of Mexico praises Biden and his “humane” immigration policies
The Democrat returned the compliments by stating that AMLO is the best "partner” his administration could have.
The President of the United States, Joe Biden and his Mexican counterpart, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) complimented each other during a meeting on the sidelines of the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference, held in San Francisco.
According to the Associated Press agency, Biden and AMLO spoke about various topics, including the fentanyl crisis. Fentanyl is a powerful drug that is flooding the streets of the United States and is produced mainly in Mexico and China. They also talked about the immigration crisis that the United States has been experiencing since Biden stepped into the Oval Office.
For the first time, both AMLO and Biden had a friendly conversation in front of the press. The Mexican socialist president described Biden as a “good man” and an “extraordinary president.”
Biden told AMLO, “I couldn’t have a better partner than you.”
Furthermore, when the immigration issue was discussed, AMLO continued to compliment Biden, calling the Democratic administration's catch-and-release border programs “a humane way to address the migration phenomenon.”
According to Breitbart, the Biden administration's immigration programs that AMLO praised are immigration policies that promote illegal migration. Law enforcement captures illegal migrants and then releases them throughout the United States.
“One of Biden’s programs to get border crossers and illegal aliens into the U.S. interior is a migrant mobile app where foreign nationals in Mexico can actually schedule appointments at the border to be released,” reported the conservative outlet, questioning the Biden administration's border policies.
According to Breitbart, the migrant mobile app has helped free more than 350,000 foreigners into American communities since January of this year. All of this has taken place while an unprecedented immigration crisis is affecting the border and East Coast states.
When it comes to fentanyl, Biden told AMLO that he had reached an agreement with Chinese President Xi Jinping to combat the production of this powerful opioid.
“I want to tell you about my great conversation with Xi Jinping on that issue,” Biden told López Obrador without giving further details. “We’re working side-by-side to combat — tackle organized crime.”
“We’re aware of the damage it poses to the United States' youth,” AMLO said.
The chemicals used to produce fentanyl are mostly manufactured in China. These elements are sent to Mexico, where the drugs are mass-produced and then transported to the United States through cartels that take advantage, in part, of the current immigration crisis along the southern border.
