Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he would “destroy” Hamas and leave each of its members dead after the violent attacks the Palestinian terrorist group committed against his nation.

This Wednesday, Netanyahu gave a televised speech in which he reiterated the brutal acts that Hamas has carried out against Israel since last Saturday, highlighting that it has beheaded and burned people alive, raped women, and committed other terrible crimes against the citizens of Israel. However, the prime minister assured that he would not allow the terrorists to emerge victorious.

Netanyahu stated that he would “crush and destroy” the Palestinian group. “Every member of Hamas will be a dead man,” he added.

The prime minister’s statements came alongside the announcement that an agreement had been reached with Benny Gantz, leader of the opposition National Unity party, to form an emergency unity government.

In addition to Gantz and Netanyahu, the war cabinet will have the support of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Deputy Gadi Eizenkot and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer.

“Israel is the strongest state in the region and has the strongest army. We will win and change the security and strategic reality in the region. There’s a time for peace and a time for war; now is the time for war,” Gantz said after the agreement.

US support is essential

During the speech, the Israeli prime minister took the opportunity to thank once again the support that the United States has given him and highlighted that the role of the US is essential to defend Israel.

Last Tuesday, Netanyahu announced during one of his conversations with Joe Biden that he considers Hamas to be even more dangerous than ISIS and that, therefore, actions that reflect that seriousness should be taken.

“We were attacked with such barbarity that had not been seen since the Holocaust,” he insisted.
