Mexico: At least 34 mutilated corpses found on two properties in Veracruz

Mexican authorities found at least 34 severed corpses inside two properties located in the city of Poza Rica (Veracruz state, Mexico). The bodies were found inside freezers. One man and two women have been arrested, Europa Press reported.
Agents from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), local police and the Prosecutor's Office searched several houses in the area. The mutilated bodies were found in two of them. No further information has been released on this case and the number of bodies could be higher.
Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world. According to a Security, Justice and Peace report, nine of the top ten cities with the highest homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2022 were in Mexico. Colima tops the list with 181.94 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
