The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, assured that China has become much more aggressive and dangerous in the last five years. The general is the highest-ranking military official in the country, and made these statements during a tour of the Pacific.

According to Milley, interactions between Chinese and U.S. (and allied) aircraft and ships have increased markedly in the Pacific, and he noted that unsafe encounters have also increased. "The message is that the Chinese military, by air and by sea, has become much more aggressive and noticeable in this particular region," he said.

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff asked his staff to gather details on China-U.S. interactions in the area.

These statements come against the backdrop of China's threats against Taiwan. China's top military chief, General Li Zuocheng, told Milley on the 7th that Beijing has "no room for compromise" on Taiwan.
