Texas Governor Greg Abbott is dealing with the incessant crisis on the southern border that the Biden administration cannot fully control. He is taking matters into his own hands and has decided to send a new batch of buses loaded with immigrants to what are known as sanctuary cities. Specifically, around 70,000 will be transferred to Washington, DC, New York, Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles.

Abbott posted the news on his X account (formerly Twitter). He hasn't revealed when this will take place. He did, however, specify how many immigrants each of the sanctuary cities will receive:

Abbott began sending buses with immigrants in August 2022, at a time when the state of Texas and Border Patrol were overwhelmed due to the number of encounters with illegal immigrants crossing the border each day.

The first city where the Texas governor chose to send migrants to was New York City. He sent other buses to sanctuary cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, DC.

Since Biden took office as president in January 2021, there have been nearly seven million encounters with illegals on the southern border (6,830,287 as of November 30, 2023), according to official data recorded by the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Most of them are adults traveling alone.
