Justice Department (DOJ) prosecutors want to sentence conservative host Owen Shroyer to 120 days in jail. The information was confirmed by Alex Jones, who said that it would be a violation of free speech because the main arguments they are using against Shroyer are his comments on the 2020 presidential election.

"In the months prior to January 6, Shroyer spread election disinformation paired with violent rhetoric to hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of viewers," says the document from the DOJ.

In addition, prosecutors claimed that "Shroyer helped create January 6. The government respectfully requests that this Court sentence him to 120 days of incarceration, 12 months of supervised release, 60 hours of community service, and $500 in restitution."

The statement also mentions that the anchor was at the riots at the Capitol on January 6. What prosecutors insist on most, however, is that Shroyer allegedly encouraged people to show up and protest days earlier.

"They want to put you in prison"

Conservative host Alex Jones claims that the prosecutors' arguments prove that this is a political attack. He pointed out that the document mentions Shroyer's comments about the election and his criticism of President Joe Biden.

"They don't want to just censor you, folks. They want to put you in prison. Forgive them, Father. They know not what they do. (...) They're asking for prison time for a man that did nothing and was there with me trying to stop people going to the Capitol because he still says he thinks the election was stolen. Well, that's his right," Jones said.

In June, Owen Shroyer pleaded guilty to being in a restricted area of the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Shroyer could be sentenced to up to six months in federal prison. His sentencing hearing has been set for Sept. 12.
