In a statement updating the senator's medical status, McConnell's communications chief announced that he will remain in the hospital for a few days after being found to be suffering from a concussion as a result of the fall:

Leader McConnell stumbled at a dinner party Wednesday night and has been admitted to the hospital and is being treated for a concussion. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and treatment," David Popp, McConnell's communications director, said in an update on Thursday.
