Republican Party regains control of Oversight Committee
Lauren Boebert, Tim Burchett or Marjorie Taylor Greene will be some of the GOP members joining this parliamentary body.
The House Oversight Committee which the Republican Party regained control of after the last midterms, will be joined by several Republican congressmen. NBC's Jake Sherman reported that Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Tim Burchett (R-TN), Eric Burlison (R-MO), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Chuck Edwards (R-NC), Russell Frey (R-SC), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Nick Langworthy (R-NY), Jake LaTurner (R-KS), Gary Palmer (R-AL), Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), Scott Perry (R-PA), Lisa McClain (R-MI), Pete Sessions (R-TX) and William Timmons (R-SC) will join this congressional body.
The congressmen didn't take long to post the news. One of the first was Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. She thanked the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, James Comer, for his trust in her by appointing her to the committee:
Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar reinstated
The Georgia congresswoman and the Arizona congressman have been reinstated to the Oversight Committee. According to The Hill, Marjorie Taylor Greene will serve on the Homeland Security and Oversight Committees while Paul Gosar will join the Natural Resources and Oversight Committees. Both had lost their seats on the committees after the Democrats took control of Congress in 2021.
However, The Hill pointed out that the selections of these congressmen must be approved by a vote of the entire House Republican conference, which "typically approves the Steering Committee’s recommendations."
Once approved, it is intended that the Homeland Security Committee, which will be chaired by Tennessee Representative Mark Green, will deal primarily with U.S.-Mexico border issues. In fact, the main objective of this committee, according to its president, will be to remove Alejandro Mayorkas from office.
Committee's objective to uncover every abuse of Democratic power
Marjorie Taylor Greene is thrilled to regain her seat on the Homeland Security Committee. In fact, in a statement she made about her recent assignment, the congresswoman warned Joe Biden that the main objective of this panel will be to uncover every dirty deal his administration may have done:
In addition to investigating Biden's well-known classified document scandal, the Oversight Committee that will be led by Republicans also assured, as reported by Breitbart, that it will investigate the White House for other controversies such as the border crises, the fentanyl problem, the energy crisis, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, Hunter Biden's business dealings or the origins of the coronavirus.
