Bob Casey announces he has prostate cancer
The senator from Pennsylvania assured that the treatment will not deprive him from continuing his work in Congress.

Bob Casey, a Democratic senator from Pennsylvania, announced in a statement that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December, although he assured that his prognosis is "excellent":
Last month, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. While this news came as a shock, I can report that I have an excellent prognosis, as well as the benefit of exceptional medical care and the unwavering support of my family.
Casey, a senator since 2007, confirmed that he will undergo surgery and that the treatment will allow him to continue to serve in the Upper House until 2025, when his term ends:
In the coming months I will undergo surgery, after which I am expected to make a full recovery. I am confident that my recommended course of treatment will allow me to continue my service in the 118th Congress with minimal disruption, and I look forward to the work ahead.
In his time in Congress, the senator has been a member of the Intelligence Committee and is chairman of the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
