Adrift: three out of four Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction
Joe Biden's popularity falls to its lowest point with 55% of citizens expressing disapproval of the president's job.
Nearly three-quarters of Americans (74%) said the country is headed in the wrong direction under Biden. A record 58% believe the country's best years are behind us,according to an NBC News poll.
More than half of respondents (58%) said they felt "more concerned that the country's best years are behind us." The poll noted that only 35% of Americans think the best years are ahead, well below the 45% who agreed with this statement in 1990.
On the other hand, barely one in five citizens (21%) felt that the nation is "going in the right direction.” The data coincides with a drop in Joe Biden's approval rating, which is at an all-time low with 55% of Americans expressing disapproval of the president's job.
The poll showed that 68% of Americans believe the country is in a recession, despite the White House's attempts to deny it.
The poll, conducted Aug. 12-16, days after the FBI raided former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence, also found that 57% of respondents said investigations into Trump should continue.
1,000 registered voters participated in the survey. The margin of error is 3.1%. You can view the poll in its entirety here:
