‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajak to retire
The next season of the gameshow will be his last after 40 years at the helm.
Television's most famous wheel is saying goodbye to its host. Pat Sajak, who has been at the helm of “Wheel of Fortune” for 40 years, has announced that next season will be his last hosting the hit TV show.
"Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)," the anchor said via his Twitter account.
Sajak, 76, began hosting the gameshow in 1981, when he succeeded Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford in the position. In September 2022, he became the longest-tenured host in U.S. television history.
