Border Patrol chief acknowledges immigration crisis is due to Biden's "no consequences" policy

Questioned about Biden's policy, Raul Ortiz pointed out that illegal immigration will increase as it has already happened in other stages of lack of control at the border.

Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz acknowledged that Biden's immigration policies are fueling the influx of illegals into the country. Fox News had access to Ortiz's statements in which he asserts that these "no consequences" policies drive up illegal immigration.

These claims came during a recorded deposition on July 28 as part of discovery in a lawsuit by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody against the Department of Homeland Security over Biden's immigration policy. In it, Raul Ortiz pointed out to questions from the lawyers that in his experience (31 years of service)"we have seen increases (in illegal immigration) when there are no consequences".

The conversation with the lawyers, in which Ortiz was under oath, went like this:

  • Ortiz:
In my experience, we have seen increases when there are no consequences.
  • Lawyer:
So, if migrant populations believe that (...) there are not going to be consequences, more of them will come to the border. Is that what you're saying?
  • Ortiz:
There is an assumption that if the migrant population is told that there is a potential that they may be released (...) you can see increases".
  • Lawyer:
It will then increase at an exponential rate. Is that what is being suggested here?"
  • Ortiz:
Well, I do think it will increase, yeah.
  • Lawyer:
Since President Biden was elected, does this document indicate that aliens illegay entering the U.S. perceive that they will be able to enter and remain in the U.S.?
  • Ortiz:
Yes.

The document referred to by the plaintiff's attorney was a memo from the spring of 2021 that revealed that Biden's immigration policies, in part, fueled the surge of migrants at the border, Fox News recalls.

The Florida attorney general's lawsuit recalled that memo and the 'alternatives to detention' documents issued by the Biden Administration. Ashley Moody accused the agencies of not following established federal law, the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires officials to detain illegal aliens at the border until they are returned to their country of citizenship. Far from complying with the regulations, we see how the Border Patrol literally opens the doors to the arrival of these immigrants.

"The Biden administration caused the surge, made the border less safe and is flagrantly violating the very federal laws they swore to uphold. The Biden administration is putting hard-working border patrol agents in impossible and untenable positions, risking their lives and safety, and I want to thank Chief Ortiz for testifying truthfully at his deposition," said Ashley Moody.

Record numbers of illegal arrivals under Biden Administration

Five million illegals have crossed the border since Biden has been president. Specifically, 4,900,000 people entered the country illegally since his inauguration. This was stated in a report by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). The figure includes the 3.4 million immigrants registered by the Border Patrol and another 900,000 fugitives who entered the country undetected, FAIR revealed citing sources at the immigration enforcement agency.

This is a figure close to the population of the states of Alabama or South Carolina, which, according to FAIR, reflects the disarray on the part of the current administration, as corroborated by Raul Ortiz, head of the Border Patrol, when questioned about immigration policies.
