Amber Heard paid Johnny Depp one million dollars owed after defamation suit

The actress's insurance company paid the settlement amount she agreed to with the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor.

The legal battle between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp ended after the actress complied with the agreement she reached with her ex-husband for the defamation case and paid him one million dollars.

A little over a year ago, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor officially won a defamation suit against his ex-wife. After a six-week trial, a judge ruled that Amber Heard must pay Depp $10 million in damages for damaging the actor's reputation by claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse.

However, in an attempt to put this whole legal battle behind him, the artist reached an agreement with his ex-wife and reduced the compensation to one million dollars, an amount that the actress' insurance company has now paid.

Depp will donate the money

According to a source close to the actor, Depp plans to divide the money into five equal parts to donate to the following charities: Make-A-Film Foundation, which grants cinematic wishes to children and young people with severe medical conditions; The Painted Turtle, a camp for children with serious medical conditions; Red Feather, an organization that helps provide homes for indigenous groups; Tetiaroa Society, which assists island and coastal communities, and Amazonia Fund Alliance, whose mission is to protect the Amazon rainforest.

Heard fled to Spain

Meanwhile, the actress is trying to escape the media pressure caused by the legal battle she had with her ex-partner and moved from the United States to Madrid, the capital of Spain, with her daughter Oonagh. According to a journalist, the actress is trying to raise her daughter away from "all the noise."
