Second batch of Epstein documents reveals how the mogul attracted minors

Among the 300 pages published on Thursday are documents that reveal how a network of young people recruited colleagues and friends to "give massages" to celebrities and make their way as artists or models.

A second batch of 19 documents, with around 300 pages, related to the Jeffrey Epstein case came to light last Thursday. Among the documents, the way in which the mogul got minors for his parties and even the money he paid them in exchange for "massages" is revealed.

Epstein, a bridge to stardom

The documents about the recruitment of the young women come from the criminal trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's partner, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking. Several of the then minors pointed to Maxwell as the person who brought them closer to the mogul as a door to fulfilling their dreams of becoming well-known models or artists. The victims pointed out how he was name-dropping celebrities and relevant people who were their friends that could be the bridge to launch them into stardom.

One of the documents is the statement of Joseph Recarey, lead detective in another previous case against the mogul. In it, the investigator described the process by which the financier and Maxwell used to find and recruit girls "to perform massages and work in Epstein's house." During his testimony, Recarey noted that he spoke with at least 30 minors who were recruited.

"Massage", a pretense for sexual encounters

The detective, in response to questions from the lawyer, specified that, in fact, "massages" was a pretense to refer to sexual encounters:

Question: "So did you determine that ‘massage’ was actually a code word for something else?"

Recarey: "When they went to perform a massage, it was for sexual gratification."

Recruited by friends or classmates to work for Epstein

One of the young women who gave her testimony, and whose name remains secret, indicated that a classmate was the one who told her about the job to give massages and put her in contact with the mogul, assuring her that no experience was necessary. Later, the young woman found out that girls like the one who approached her received payments for each minor they obtained. She also noted that it took her years to "forget" the experiences she had during the time she participated in the festivities of the ill-fated financier.

"I don't remember exactly how I was approached to get there. I was just there, and suddenly something horrible happened to me ..." In her statement, the minor stressed that in her first meeting with the tycoon, he took off her clothes without her consent. In addition, he noted that the girls received between $200 and $4,000 for going, and that their presence there did not always end in sexual encounters: "Sometimes I would go over and I would just swim and I would get paid, or I would take a nap and I’d get paid, or I would just hang out and I’d get paid. It wasn’t my assumption that they were coming over to do anything. I did not know, once the door was closed or once they went to another area of the home. I often just went over and did my own thing while they were doing whatever they were doing. It was none of my business."
