Israeli military intelligence believes that at least 32 of the 136 remaining hostages in Gaza captured by Hamas have died. This information was revealed this Tuesday by The New York Times, which cites an internal report from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

The hostages could have died any time between the attack on October 7 and the present. The New York Times was given access to an internal report and also spoke to four members from Israel's military intelligence team.

According to the Times of Israel, it is not clear whether the report also includes other hostages that Hamas had in captivity since before the October 7 attacks.

The latest information about the state of the hostages in Gaza stated that there had been 29 casualties. The new report cited by The New York Times adds that the IDF is studying unconfirmed information, which claims another 20 hostages could be dead.

The information from The New York Times coincides with what was later announced by the Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons in Israel. The only difference is that it claims that there are 31 casualties instead of 32. "According to the official data we have, there are 31 victims," the Forum said in a statement. "Before the (New York Times) article was published, liaison officials gave an official message to all families of the abductees that there is no change in the assessment of the situation."
